About & method
PatchOracle is a research project about the Hypixel SkyBlock bazaar: a multi-year price panel, a recorded order book, and an execution simulator built to find out whether a resting-order strategy survives contact with a real queue. This site is the public face of that work.
What the numbers are
The historical series on every item page are daily volume-weighted average ask and bid prices. They are not best bid and ask. Hypixel's summary endpoint reports a weighted average across resting orders, which measured about 1.8 percentage points wider than the touch at the median when compared against full order-book snapshots. The spread shown here is therefore a proxy for crossing cost rather than the cost a real order would pay.
Live prices, where shown, are different: they are true touch prices, computed from the current order book — the lowest ask and the highest bid.
The naming trap
Hypixel names order books after what the player does, not after the side of the book. The endpoint's buy_summary is the ask side — the orders you buy from — and sell_summary is the bid side. Reading them literally inverts every price, every spread, and every backtest built on top. This was verified across 1,693 products before anything was plotted: the ask side sits entirely above the bid side in 100% of them.
Where the data comes from
Patch text comes from the Hypixel SkyBlock wiki and the official forum patch-notes feed, and the per-item changes are extracted from that text by a language model, so an occasional mis-attribution should be expected rather than assumed away. The official wiki shut down in July 2026; the forum feed is now the live source.
Price history originates from Hypixel's public bazaar API. The deep history was collected through CoflNet's SkyApi, which archives the same endpoint — credited in the footer, per their request of sites that use their data. Everything recorded from the switchover forward is collected directly from Hypixel by this project's own recorder, so the share of self-collected data grows every day.
Currently 1,805,843 daily rows: 0 archived · 1,805,843 self-collected (100.0% self-collected).
Nothing here trades
The bazaar API is read-only, and automating the game client violates Hypixel's rules — so automated execution is permanently out of scope. Every execution figure this project reports comes from simulating orders against recorded order-book snapshots, and where the data cannot distinguish a fill from a cancellation, the simulator refuses to guess rather than resolving it in the strategy's favour.
This site is not financial advice, and coins are not money. It is a study of a game economy that happens to have a real order book.
How it's served
Static files on a CDN, rebuilt nightly. Item pages are prerendered with their data inlined, so a chart needs no round trip. The only server-side component is a small proxy for live prices, cached at the edge for 20 seconds; when the upstream API fails it keeps serving the last good response with its age shown, rather than going blank.

Data provenance
This build is pinned to exactly one promoted publication manifest — not a set of latest-file URLs. Every artifact on this site is fetched by content hash and checked against that manifest before anything here trusts its bytes.
